A ring cheek piece introduces poll pressure as well as creating leverage on the mouthpiece, the 2 1/2 Ring version is the softest out of the 3 or 4 ring alternatives as the 1/2 ring softens the leverage on the mouthpiece and poll. The Elliptical "B" is a shorter lozenge, which gives a similar action as the Buster Roller. It encourages the horse to lift its head by applying bar pressure, but it is slightly softer than the Buster roller due to the bigger surface area on the tongue. The lozenge on the tongue will keep the horse's attention on the bit and will increase pressure bringing the chin in.
